It is always such an honor to photograph another photographer. And a little nerve wracking, but Emily is so gorgeous it would be hard to take a bad photo of her:) I met Emily recently on my trip to Las Vegas for the WPPI photography conference. She is my nanny’s sister friend from Denver. We took my nanny, and her sister, who is also a photographer, on our trip with us so that she could have someone to hang out with while taking care of the kids. Emily came too, and she took some AMAZING photos of me and my family in Las Vegas, and then again when we came back to Boulder. Check out her beautiful wedding photography. I just love her images of my family, and can not wait to get some canvas’s made for our family room.

Most. Beautiful. Wedding. Ever. Julia and Kevin planned my perfect wedding. It was deep, deep in the mountains. I am talking driving down a dirt path, not even a road, for miles on end, to get to this little Buddhist retreat house in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. It was so peaceful and incredibly beautiful up there. What a perfect place to choose to get married. And of course this is one of my favorite families, and I have been  photographing them for about a year now, so I felt like a family member witnessing them saying their vows. It was hard to choose which photos to post on the blog, I could really put them all up-I might post more when I get back from my trips in a couple weeks. For now, I wanted to share this beautiful little wedding with everyone. Congratulations Julia and Kevin (and Willa)!

So if I were to shoot weddings, I would only shoot for the tight-rope walking, dog hugging, poppy loving type of people. Really, I love babies and little people because they are just so freaking real. I did the whole formal wedding thing when I was apprenticing. I learned a lot, yes. It was an invaluable experience.  But, my true love is to photograph what is real. So, I am grateful that this couple chose me to shoot their wedding (coming soon!). This has to be the cutest little girl in the world, no? Here she is at seven months. And they keep living in these cute Boulder bungalows right in the center of town. I love that I get to document their life. Willa is totally going to thank me 17 years from now. I will bet on it. Stay tuned, many beautiful wedding photos to come…

Shawn and Emily

March 17, 2010

I *loved* shooting Shawn and Emily. Shawn is such a good friend from long ago-high school, and I have not seen him in about 7 years. He is one of those friends you know you will always connect with and love. I was so happy to meet his beautiful wife and do a few photos for them. Thanks for taking the time to come visit, Shawn, it was so wonderful to see you again!

Nine months pregnant, just days before I gave birth to my second baby, in the stifling heat of the Colorado desert in August, I photographed my best friend’s wedding.  Thank goodness she is such a beautiful woman, because it was HARD running around with a big baby in my belly. I seriously could hardly make it up and down the stairs!

I have always photographed children and babies and families, but when I was starting out I worked for a wedding photographer here in Boulder as well.  It was a ton of fun, and I have often thought it might be nice to photograph a few weddings a year as well.  If you know of anyone that might need a wedding photographer (sans belly), please pass along my info-I would like to offer a few weddings at a discounted price while I portfolio build. Spread the word!
