Yeah, not a lot to say about this photo. She chose her own clothes for our friend’s birthday party yesterday. She insisted. Bathing suit, cowgirl boots, two dora band-aids, and a marti gras necklace. My girl knows how to dress fine for a party. Looking at this photo, I realize I REALLY need to get our family portraits done soon. She will NOT EVER look at me when I have a camera. It is ridiculous. But she will for other photographers.

Well, Jinky Art is coming to MY house on Friday for 6 days of workshops in Boulder. I am SO psyched.  Amelia and Elijah are definitely going to be models. I have so much to prepare for this retreat, and can not believe that after 8 months of planning the time has arrived. For those who don’t know, Barb Uil (Jinky Art) is my very favorite photographer in the world. She is  coming all the way from Australia for two amazing workshops here in Boulder, at my house+community house no less! Her photography is so whimsical and soft and beautiful and speaks to the heart of childhood. Every photograph is a work of art. I love being able to make a living as a photographer, and realize that a lot of that is because I can take really great portraits that capture the joy and love in a family, but her work is this amazing, timeless, breathtaking art, and I want to be able to create with the same tenacity and energy that she does. So watch out-I am going to be a new photographer after this week. I will post LOTS and LOTS of photos as we go along, too!

Now off to finalize catering, models, props, locations, etc….

This sweet newborn is over a month now! Whew, just need to catch up on these blog posts. We did Ava’s newborn portraits at about 3 weeks, but she was still sleepy and squishy and great. So tiny, too! She really does make me want to have another little baby. Amelia will be two next week! I have no baby left! She is potty trained and weened and can talk in full sentences and count to 14-almost. I have no baby. I remember how it was when Elijah was this age-whenever I did a newborn shoot I got this crazy baby fever. It has not hit me *quite* yet but I anticipate sometime in the next year I won’t be able to stand not having a baby anymore and convince Adam to go for it. First, though, we just need to get this house closed on! The whole mortgage thing is so frustrating, and it just keeps being drawn out.

All else is going well. I am feeling better. Elijah started first grade-he is such a big boy now! We are making plans for the fall. Life is good.

So this little cutie is the son of the fabulous Katie Wise, who owns Yomama, which is Boulder’s very best yoga and family center.  It is a fabulous resource for new families, so I wanted to give it a shout out. They have everything there that you need to stay healthy in pregnancy-prenatal yoga, birthing classes, meditation, body work for pregnancy and post partum, etc… I feel so lucky that we have this studio here-it is an easy spot to get to get informed and have the best pregnancy possible. Katie also runs the Boulder Doula Circle-which is a group of fabulous women who work together to offer doula services. So many of my newborn clients end up telling me that Katie was their doula and made such a huge difference in the birth. So, anyways, if you know anything about me, you know that I love everything about pregnancy, birth, and babies, so I loved hanging out with and getting to know this little family.

Things here are good. I am recovering from the crohn’s-that was not fun at all. It was basically just two weeks of laying around and watching Star Trek. Yes, I am a trekkie. We STILL have not closed on our new house-the whole mortgage process is so frustrating now that the market is different. When we bought our first house a few years ago I basically told the broker that I made x amount of money, and he said, “ok, how big of a load do you want?” It is so different now, and I feel like every day we are asked to jump through some new hoop. I just want it to be final.

Oh, and the other super exciting news is that I found and fell in love with (obsessively) a new website called Pinterest.  If you don’t need another bad web habit, don’t click on the link! If you want to see all the beautiful things I have found and am making for my new home, click here. This weekend I refinished an old stool and made the cutest little bench from scratch.

More tomorrow!

Maternity sessions are always whimsical and fun.  As a photographer and mother, pregnancy photos are dear to my heart. Jenny and Andy were an awesome couple, too. I could have stayed there all night and talked with them about babies, birth, pregnancy, and everything else. Just so laid back, so in love, happy, excited for their new baby girl. It was a perfect night out, and Jenny is just so calm and beautiful-I just love every single photo from her shoot and wish I had a way to post them all. Instead…I am going to post A LOT of them:) My favorites are with the dog, Tahoe. I just love the way she is looking at Jenny and how much a part of the family she is.

So, our closing on the new house has been postponed so many times now. It is so frustrating! It was supposed to be last week, then yesterday, then today…now everyone is going out of town. I just need to have that settled feeling of having closed, you know? So maybe in the next few days. It just seems like we are missing one document after another. I know that getting a mortgage now is a lot more difficult than it was a few years ago when we bought our first house, but this seems unreasonable. I will keep you updated though, and post photos once we move in!

Took photos of the cutest little 2 year old boy this morning, will post some soon!

Just back from Breckenridge. We had a ridiculously wonderful weekend up there. We swam, went for walks, ate lots of good food, watched tv in the condo (we don’t have cable at home), went to a farmer’s market, art fair, and the fun park up there. Yeah, it is great to be able to take a mini vacation so close to home. I was going to plan a big trip this summer-but we are buying our new home instead.

So I am sick.  I have crohn’s disease-which I have shared on the blog before. It is basically an autoimmunie disorder, where my immune system eats up my intestines and MAN it is a pain in the butt to have. Painful sometimes, but just really draining. I have lost 5 lbs since Thursday. Which, really, that is the perk to the illness-I never have to worry about keeping extra weight on for too long. A build in weight lose system that makes you skinny in just weeks. If I could only bottle that part of it-with no pain or bad medications-I would be rich!  So, this just means that I am tired and a little out of it. I am getting treated with acupuncture, but I think I am going to have to cave and go on predizone (steroids) later today. It is a nice excuse to use the time I have my nanny here to take a bath, read a book, watch some movies. Last time I was sick was during my San Francisco sessions a few months back. Once I go on the steroids, though, I have crazy amount of energy. I clean, declutter, and can work on photos well into the night. So, some good things, some bad.

Good news, though, is that we are closing on our new house tomorrow! If we can get one last piece of documentation in on time. I can’t wait to move in-I am already shopping  a ton for new furniture. It will be beautiful. Best part? It is already painted inside mostly yellow-and I love living in yellow rooms. I have ordered a bunch of canvases and float wraps, too, since we will have a lot more wall space and I have A LOT of photos to display.

And some pictures for you too… Linnea and Julianna are super sweet together. The baby’s eyes are just gorgeous!
