Meet my new sales manager Reg, and her family. On the windiest night of the year in Boulder. I was being blown over trying to get that shot of them in the back of the Bronco. The wind was so loud in my ears I could hardly hear my voice as I tried to get the attention of the boys. Yes, she has four boys, all 3 and under! And all super-model gorgeous. Every single one of them. The wind had picked up just minutes before, and was ferocious, but I wanted to at least attempt to get some photos since she has gotten all four, yes four, boys ready and out the door for the photo session. That first one was the best we could do in the field. I swear they were about to be blown over by the wind. Suffice it to say, you will be seeing new photos of them here in a week or so when we do our make-up session.

Rainy day today, but, boy, does Boulder need that water. I can not wait for the 4 sessions I have this weekend! Everything will be suddenly very green. I love it when the colors change. The whole feel and look of my photography changes with it to some degree. It is like getting a new palette of paints.

Enjoy the rainy, cozy day! I am now off to snuggle with my baby and read books!

This was a perfect little family I photographed in Menlow Park, just outside of San Francisco last week. They were all so in love with each other-and I just adore that.

I am hoping the wind will die down a bit this week here in Boulder. I *tried* to do two sessions yesterday evening and the wind was literally blowing me over. And to make it worse, everyone in the first family had long hair. So, no, that does not work for family portraits. Boulder has been so super windy all spring, I feel like this is not totally normal. But I can’t complain too much about the weather right now. It is gorgeous out! I think I am going to-gasp-ditch most of my work day and go shopping for clothes. It has to be done, right?

I had the most wonderful mother’s day ever. Amelia woke me up at 5am, but then Adam got up to let me sleep in. When I awoke again, there was a huge breakfast, potted flowers, kid-colored pictures all over, and cappuccino all ready for me. The weather in Boulder could not have been more perfect. We just hung out outside all day. Barbecuing, playing with the kids, doing nothing. Perfect. And then I got to do a photography session in the evening for a family I have not seen in a year. And it was the perfect session. The baby was happy, the light was gorgeous, and it was so warm and pretty outside.

This morning I asked my nanny to come in a bit later. It seems like the last two years have been a crazy whirlwind. When it was just my son and I, staying home all day, life was slow and easy. But now, working, AND having two kids, I am always just trying to keep up with the things that needed to be done yesterday, you know? Amelia has been just a little firecracker her whole life, that it has been hard to find time to just sit back and relax.

So, I did nothing all morning with my baby girl. We played patty cake and itsy bitsy spider 20 times. We played outside. We went for a long walk where I let her choose which way to go at every turn. It was quiet, and so nice.

See, the thing with Amelia is that she never, ever wanted to be a baby. She has always been so smart, and she can *think* of all the big kid things she wants to do, but then her little body can’t do them. Like riding a bike, or a scooter. Jumping off walls, eating with a fork and knife. That sort of thing. Every day now she can do more and more, and is happier and happier. And my everyday life is getting easier and more laid back. It is truly amazing how much she has changed in the last couple of months.

So, a psychic told me a few months ago that if I could get through the long winter, then everything would change in the spring. That things would be really wonderful. Oh, she also said I would get pregnant, which will probably not happen since Adam is stately firmly at the moment that he only wants two. But accidents can happen:) But, anyways, I think this is going to be a really amazing year, and I am so happy right now!

Off to a newborn session in mountains, it should be absolutely beautiful!

I woke up to beautiful flowers, handmade cards from both my kids, and a big breakfast. We are getting ready to go on a hike and have a picnic-it is a beautiful day out! I hope you all have an equally wonderful Mother’s Day! I thought this mini session from San Francisco would be a nice one to post today-mom and daughter were so sweet together.

Enjoy your day!

Boulder is so gorgeous this weekend! I am so glad I am shooting so much-the weather is perfect. I just got back from a photo session with the cutest little curly haired toddler, and am getting ready for a session this afternoon. These photos were from my mini photography sessions in San Francisco last weekend. So sweet!

I was so happy to see Gia again! I love watching her grow-and she IS one of the most beautiful babies with that soft skin and dark, dark hair. Apparently, she looks just like daddy when he was that age. This is that beautiful newborn that is featured on the first page of my portfolio. Check out her newborn photos, and then 6 months. I know a lot of my clients are referred to me by Boulder Nurse Midwives, so some of you might recognize the images of Gia up in their offices, particularly this one.

So, I am super behind on blogging right now. I literally have about 20 sessions to put up. I am surprisingly really staying on top of things. My awesome office manager, Kellie, has been handling all the hard stuff, and so I have been able to focus on shooting for the most part, which is what I love to do.

I also hired a sales manager this week, which is really exciting news for me. Up until now, so many of my families just opt to purchase the digital negatives from their session. Sadly, when I see them in 6 months or a year, they still have not done anything with the photographs. So, Reg will be meeting with my families after their shoot, showing them their proofs, showing them all sorts of samples-canvases, large prints, storyboards, image boxes, albums, etc… and helping them decide what would look good in their homes. I would do this myself, but really, for some reason, I have no eye for interior design. It doesn’t make sense that I don’t have this skill, as I am able to put things together beautifully in a photograph. But my house? Forget it. I hate black furniture and somehow all my furniture is now black. Reg has a background in design and she is going to be able to help me and my families so much. I just ordered a kazillion samples for her, too, so I will be posting some photos of those this week.

more soon.

Boys will be boys. Yes. I can not imagine having three boys.  All the intensity, the noise, the dirt. I know it is a no-no in Boulder to talk to about gender roles and kids, but really, my son loved trucks and airplanes, and my daughter just adores baby dolls, shoes, and purses. And I tried as consciously as I could to raised them neutrally. But, what I loved about this family, is that each boy totally has his own personality and they are all three so, so different. That is why I love those close up photos below. Because I took them all in a row, and each one really captures how they were during the shoot. Can you guess which one I had to work that hardest with, chasing him the whole time and trying to get to play with me and have fun?And we did it-we got so many really fabulous shots.

This family is so cool. They are so laid back and happy and fun and the kids are so loved. Mom and dad are both neuroscientists. But-they created an awesome cloth diaper this past year and started a business, which has TAKEN OFF. I am so happy to hear stories like this. The diapers are so popular they can not keep them in stock-that is how great they are. To see them, you can check out the website for GoGreen Diapers here. Once they launch their new site in a few weeks I am going to post all the adorable product shots I got for them, so stay tuned. I love, love, love doing baby and kids product photography.
Well, I am back from San Francisco. Whew, that was a whirlwind! 10 shoots in three days, with two babies traveling with us. I need to rest now, for sure, but will write more tomorrow!
