Okay, this is the cutest family ever. I am really a little jealous. They have three gorgeous boys (with the BEST names, no?), they live up in Nederland, and they are all so happy. It is funny, because as a family photographer I see a lot of families, but I guess they are usually at their best, right? My clients get all dressed up for the photos, bribe the kids, make sure all the babies are well rested and fed. And when I come to their homes, their houses are all beautifully decorated and are so very clean (how can you fake that?). And so, I am left with the impression that all the families I photograph have got it all together and are happy all the time. But I know that can’t be true. Because in MY family photos-it is the same-we have not a care in the world. I bet there is someone out there that thinks I have the perfect life too. But it is all relative.

I do think I had what was as close to a perfect day as I will ever get last week. We stayed inside, decorated the tree, listened to Christmas music and drank eggnog. The kids were happy, we were not stressed about anything, and we just relaxed into it. There is a reason why we love the holidays so much, and it is because of perfect days like that.

And speaking of holidays, the last card orders need to be in TODAY. So, if you have not decided on your card yet, please give me a call and we can chat about it a bit. Those who have not seen their galleries yet will get a couple of extra days.

xoxo

I just had to post one from this mini session today. I LOVE this family, love these boys, they are the best:) I will definitely post more photos tomorrow or perhaps the next day. For now, I think this was my favorite of all the photos from the session. I just wish I had another boy. Don’t get me wrong, I love having a little girl. I would just love to add a second boy to the family, too:)

What a sweet little girl. It was so hard for me to tell that this baby is just 17 months! She is so much bigger than Amelia, who just turned 15 months. Victoria was totally intent on exploring the field during our little mini session. She was so curious the whole time. It only took dad chasing her down the path a little, though, to get her going and completely full of joy. What a great family, I love doing these kinds of family portraits.

So, we had a lovely little Thanksgiving. We had a lot of friends over, cooked for two days, and I took a real break from work, which was nice. Well, at least photography work. It is HARD work making a big dinner for 15 people! But we did it, and everything was yummy and nice and it felt good to just kick back and enjoy the day with good friends.

Remember, tomorrow. is the final day for Holiday card orders. Well, if you would like to have them in time to mail them out for Christmas, that is. Call or email me if you need any help! 720-345-4674. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Baby Scott is so sweet and cuddly and squishy, I can not stand it. Such a perfect, sweet newborn. But I figured he would be as much when I did family photos for them a month or two ago. I got so many emails about that shoot, by the way. I guess because they are such a gorgeous family. And the light was pretty that night.  And now baby Sock (what Riley affectionately named him when her mama was pregnant) is here and now they are this complete, beautiful little family. Sigh.

And now I am signing off for the day to go listen to Christmas music and dance around with my little ones. Yes, we do listen to Christmas music the week before Thanksgiving. It makes the kids soooo happy and everything just starts to feel so calm and merry in the house. My favorite time of year!

Even though it was such a cold wintery day, Anders, Toby and Brooke did awesome. AND, Brooke was just a little miserable and not feeling good. But we managed to get a ton of smiles out of her anyways-she seems just naturally full of light. I love that first shot. I am not sure why they all squatted down like that, but it is really cute. I think Brooke was down there, so her brothers thought that they would join her:) I just love it. And the last one? Forget it! They will LOVE that photo when they grow up, I know it.

As for me, I had planned on taking some time off this week since Elijah is out of school and I really do not want to miss his whole childhood because I am working,  you know? It is one of the biggest things I have struggled with as a mother, and I have learned that prints can wait a few days, but these days I miss with Elijah I will NEVER get back. Not in the same way.

Today, I was slammed with about 30 client emails when I work up, and I am busily plugging away at everything. Tomorrow and Wednesday, however, I will only be working for a few hours in the morning-and then off Thursday and Friday. Sooooo….if you try to get a hold of me and can’t, it is because I am out racing go-carts with a five year old:)

Print Deadlines….

November 20, 2010

Thanksgiving is next week already! Autumn in Boulder was way too short this year. And with Thanksgiving, that means that Christmas is right around the corner. For anyone with a current or past gallery, I need to have your print, album, canvas and card orders in by November 28th. Clients that have not seen their gallery yet or who are scheduled to have their session within the next two weeks will have until Sunday, December 5th to get their orders in. Although, in order for cards to arrive with time to send them out for Christmas, I do need ALL card orders in by November 30th. Thank you!

What a beautiful family! We started off at their house in Boulder, then took a little trip down the street to Wonderland Lake. The whole family was laid back and fun. Lou is SO good with his little sister! I saw a photo of him kissing her as a baby when we were at their house and knew I had to get one just like it for them at this age. Sierra was so sweet and giggly the whole time. It is funny, in a lot of the photos she is just looking adoringly at her big brother. I really enjoyed this session and it was such a beautiful evening. I just can’t get over how much the weather fluctuates here in Boulder. It was so cold and dark all last week, and today is warm and sunny and beautiful out.

On a happy note I am planning my trip in February to WPPI (the big photographer’s conference in Las Vegas). If any of you photographers want to meet up send me an email! Now, the big decision is whether to take the children or not…last year I took Amelia, colic and all, and while it was fun it was also stressful. Could I actually leave her for four days? I don’t know…

Whew! I am getting a day’s worth of work done in just 2 hours. Go me! I used to totally underestimate how hard it was to get things done with a sick child and a baby at home. I would go crazy trying to take care of the kids and house all while trying to get emails and editing in here and there. It would just make me a bad mother in the end, and no work would actually get done. So now I just turn on the vacation setting on my email, turn off my phone, and try not to worry. It will all get done, eventually.

So, here is Jacob’s sneak peak! I just love every single photo from his session. He is so sweet, with such big, innocent eyes, and he is so cuddly and friendly. It has nothing to do with how much his mothers love him, I am sure:)  Here he was at 6 months. Gorgeous. And we did this shoot just a couple weeks before their beautiful dog passed away, so I am so glad we got such prescious images of Jacob with Kaya, I know she is missed.

More to come, but I am now signing off for the night and going to be with my now-fussy baby who I hear crying in the other room. Cross your fingers for us that she is not sick, too.

How gorgeous is this little family? We had so much fun and Jackson was pretty happy the whole time. You know, except when he was not:) But he was such a good model for us, and he looks so beautiful in every.single.photo. The day was perfect too-one of my last outdoor fall sessions now that it is cold and dark and dreary outside. Though I am hoping that will pass, as I do have a bunch of outdoor shoots this week! Cross your fingers, I heard it was supposed to get back up into the 40′s and 50′s…

So, Elijah is home sick. I bought a bunch of pj’s from someone on my moms group, and she told me not to come inside since her little ones were sick, and I did anyways! I could bang my head up against the computer right now for taking that chance. I am sure he has exactly what those little ones had. Surprisingly, no one else is sick in our house, so I am wondering if it is the flu and maybe our flu shots kicked in a bit before his? Who knows. I had to reschedule a newborn session today though-I would never take a chance with someone else’s baby (only my own:). So, I had to take today off and stay home with him. And he missed his very first field trip EVER, to the Celestial Seasonings factory in Boulder. Poor baby. I plan on taking him on the tour next week during Thanksgiving break to make up for it. I am hoping he will get better by tomorrow though. Adam was kind enough to take off work a little early today so I could at least get in a couple hours. I am going to spend the time rolling through as MUCH as I can and try to get a bunch out of the way. Then I am going to kick back with a stiff drink, since I forgot how much work it is to spend all day with a fussy baby and a sick child! I have gotten a little spoiled with a nanny.

Oh-forgot to add that mom is pregnant. Congratulations! Doesn’t she look so GORGEOUS? They are going to be a perfect family-I can’t wait to meet the new baby!

I just *love* this photo. He will never be so small again that he only reaches to daddy’s knee.
