You are my Sunshine
November 9, 2009This song has been the last two months of my life. As I write, I am listening to “You are my Sunshine” and this sweet little tiny hand is rubbing back and forth on my arm as she lay in my sling and I bounce on the ball as I type and sing (yeah, being a new mom is that complicated.). I think this song has been on repeat for four hours now. So long that I decided to blog about it. Because I have THAT much time at the moment. Bc all I do is SIT HERE, BOUNCING. Yeah, that is what it means to love a baby. Four hours of “You are my Sunshine”, and loving every (other) minute of it. Her eyes are shut and she is asleep, but she is still feeling it out to see that I am there. Seriously, if you had a soundtrack to your life, wouldn’t you want it to be this one?
And here is a recent photo of her to remind me of how sweet she is:
Just a few from today…
November 9, 2009Isabelle, 14 months {Westminster, Colorado Family Photographer}
November 7, 2009Okay, I can not tell you how happy it makes me to photograph a baby as she grows. Just look at Isabelle! She is growing up so fast! Here she is at 7 days and again at 6 months. She was such a sweet and cuddly newborn-so squishy! And look at those eyes when she was six months! And those lips! She is going to torture men some day. Without a doubt. And special thanks to my new BPF (Best Photographer Friend), Stacy Zeigler, for showing me this awesome location in Niwot. I can’t wait to go there again. The colors are still brilliant-even after our 2 1/2 feet of snow last week!
And here she is-so much more grown up! I can’t wait to photograph her as she grows even more. It is such an honor to be the photographer that gets to do it:)
Attunement Parenting{Fort Collins Colorado Baby Photographer}
November 6, 2009I know, it is time for this cute hat to move on-I use it every time because it is the cutest one I have ever seen! Just look at how sweet this tiny little baby is! And that last photo with daddy-one of my favorites:).
You all know I am a natural light photographer. I get asked a lot about my studio lighting and, honestly, in that last photo it is just a black sheet someone is holding up behind the daddy and he is turned at an angle from his kitchen back door.
I usually come to the newborn’s house, just bc I believe it is important that mom and baby nest in together and do not get too busy. Just being able to lay in bed with the baby the first few weeks is one of the best things we can do as new mothers (in my opinion). It helps us completely attune with our child so that we know every little facial expression and movement and can anticipate what our baby needs even before they really need it. Attunement. My husband and I both did our master’s in psychology and I focused mine on early attachment (I have always had a love for babies!). We decided to do attachment parenting with our son-basically co-sleeping, breastfeeding on demand, babywearing, etc… After awhile we realized it was less about keeping our baby close all the time, and more about being able to read him and be attuned to him. Which is what naturally happens when you are close to your baby. But some babies like to sleep in a crib. Some babies like to be on a schedule. We realized it is all about knowing when our baby needs to be attached and when she needs to be separate. So I thought I would pass my two cents along to my blog readers:) What’s a blog, afterall, with no soapbox?

November 2, 2009Honestly, I think people have babies just so that they can do the fun things we love- like take their children trick or treating. Really, what could be better than chasing your kid from house to house? While he is SOOO excited that he can hardly stop for a second to tell you that he got Kit Kats (my favorite) or Body Parts (a freaky gummy decapitated treat). My baby is growing up SO fast. I feel like he was just a little six month old lion. Why does it have to go so fast? At least he is way super freaking cute right now still as Buzz Lightyear. That helps.
Cutest Annie Ever. AND, this baby can actually SING “Tomorrow”. Love it.
