Nine months pregnant, just days before I gave birth to my second baby, in the stifling heat of the Colorado desert in August, I photographed my best friend’s wedding.  Thank goodness she is such a beautiful woman, because it was HARD running around with a big baby in my belly. I seriously could hardly make it up and down the stairs!

I have always photographed children and babies and families, but when I was starting out I worked for a wedding photographer here in Boulder as well.  It was a ton of fun, and I have often thought it might be nice to photograph a few weddings a year as well.  If you know of anyone that might need a wedding photographer (sans belly), please pass along my info-I would like to offer a few weddings at a discounted price while I portfolio build. Spread the word!

I am not going to lie to you. It was cold. So cold. And yet, this sweet little girl still gave us the best photos! I really enjoyed photographing this little family. Both parents are Naropa alumni, just like me. We were there at the same time but on different campuses. Anyways, Poppy was such a sweetheart as we tromped through the snowy woods and all over Chautauqua, I am so glad I got to photograph her!

They even threw on a Baby Hawk to give me the one mountain shot that the owner of this company wanted.  I will be posted all of last week’s product shoot photos soon! Can you tell that Adelia is not digging it?  It was the end of the shoot and she was d.o.n.e.

{Woes…}

October 26, 2009

Suffice it to say, I have completed many shoots that are all ready to view, and yet I have been working what seems like a solid week to solve the mysterious problem of their file names not being able to be read by my software.  Yes, it is confusing, but I have someone helping me out today, so if you had a shoot a couple weeks ago, look for an email today or tomorrow with info on how to view all the photos from your shoot. I wish I could just take the photographs and leave the technical problems to someone else… If you want to apply to be my official technical computer geek, please email me! :)

And since no post is complete without a photo, here is a recent favorite…

What a great little family.  Look at how Jacob smiles with his eyes! I love it! And Kaya was such a good dog. He was really calm, yet would not actually sit for us. Still, I think he was a great model:)  I love that these moms love Etsy.com-I can’t get enough of the shirt with the little tie on it! Anyways, Jacob was a little trooper.  He even took a quick nap and woke up refreshed and smiley.  At least for a few more minutes so we could get a couple last quick shots:)  We had a ton of fun today, thanks S and B!

I feel so lucky to be the one to photograph this little family. I met them this summer when I did their daughter, Elodie’s, one year photos. Then they were gracious enough to be my models for the summer shoot I did for the baby carrier company BabyHawk.  Holly is such an easy, beautiful pregnant woman, too-way too easy to photograph. And I can not wait to see their new baby! If she is anything like Elodie, she will be gorgeous! (my guess is a girl;)

And thanks to Julia Vandenover, a great Boulder photographer who did my maternity shots a few months ago.  She showed me the sweet little spot in the photo below.

This is my baby.  Well, my first baby anyways, even if he is almost 5 years old. He has been in love with airplanes for years. The other day we made an “airplane world” and gathered every airplane that we could find in the house.  I counted 35, and that is just the ones we could find. I am not the kind of parent to just buy their kid endless toys and stuff that will be thrown away or discarded after an hour. Each one of his planes has been well loved and worth every penny.

Elijah and Amelia have been coming to my shoot locations lately with the babysitter. I just do not want the baby to be away from me for very long, and this way I get to be there for her if she needs me and still practice my art. This was taken after a shoot yesterday. Elijah was feeling a little low. I am sure bc he had to be with a babysitter while his mom tromped off through the woods with other kids. So, after the shoot he wanted me to take his photo. He looked for a piece of shade, sat down, gave me the cutest pose and said “take my picture!.” Which if course I promptly did. And then, as always, we had to take one with his airplane as well.  Classic Elijah. Please excuse the red Gatorade on his face, it ends up that that is REALLY hard to photoshop out.

What a beautiful, fun, gorgeous, loving, couple!  We had the perfect evening to just go strolling about Chautauqua with Red and Maya.  The thing I loved hearing the most about this couple as we walked around was that they each owned one of these breeds when they met.  How perfect is that?!

Holy cow! Look at that chubby little baby! Well, big baby. And to me, he seems even bigger since I have an eight week old at home. People actually stopped us during the shoot just to comment on his size.  Ok, and here is the kicker, this little guy is the same newborn that is in the header of my blog! Go ahead, scroll up for a second, that sweet little baby is now 6 months old.  To see all of his newborn photos look here. This family was so easy to photograph.  Hannah kept smiling right at me and she loved to sit with her brother (at least the first time;).  Anyways, I could stare at these photos all day, this family is awesome.
